The Gunnery Building is listed on the NSW State Heritage Register, and like all heritage sites, it presents unique challenges that require a careful and considered approach.

Savcon was engaged to remove the existing heritage timber flooring and structural joists to accommodate the installation of new stairs, lift, and atrium works. Each component was meticulously documented and recorded to enable reuse in alignment with heritage conservation plan.

In addition, Savcon was responsible for constructing acoustic subfloors throughout the building. These were sheeted with fire-rated board to ensure compliance with current Australian Standards, all while preserving the historical integrity of the building. The NSW State Government invested into improving this early 20th Century federation warehouse building hub for artists and the broader community.
